I have a Mac Pro with two dual-core Intel processors (Mac OS 10.4.7). How many tasks should I be able to simultaneously execute? I was under the impression that I would be able to execute 4 tasks simultaneously. However, it appears that I am able to execute only 2 tasks simultaneously. I am asking the question because with no other open applications and BOINC manager set to "Run Always", the Apple Activity Monitor utility indicates only 50% total CPU usage. Note that my dual processor G5 box (Mac OS 10.4.7) can simultaneously execute 2 tasks and the Apple Activity Monitor utility indicates 100% total CPU usage. Thanks for your advice! Dave |

In General preferences, on your Account page, what value do you have set for: On multiprocessors, use at most? |

Thanks for the help. I set the value to "4" and presto, my MacPro started crunching 4 tasks simultaneously. In General preferences, on your Account page, what value do you have set for: On multiprocessors, use at most? |
