I just downloaded BOINC 5.4.11. I can not attach my self to any new projects and have been detached from one project. The project I was detached from was the Human Proteome Folding Project. I know that Phase 1 is complete, but I thiought I would be automatically connected to Phase 2, at least thats what the websoite says what will happen. I am still attached to three projects that are still ongoing. Any ideas as to why I can't connect? My OS is Windows XP.

BOINC 5.4.11 has a specific routine that allows you to connect through McAffee's new Internet Security 8 firewall. That's the only change between .11 and 5.4.9

What errors do you get when trying to attach to new projects? Check the Messages tab in Boinc Manager.

Try to re-attach to the project you got detached from. It's possible they made a mistake.

It just says it failed to connect. The message tab just shows its trying to connect.

I am having similar problems - have uninstalled/reinstalled - but just keep getting 'connection failed'. I am using XP. Have been running OK for months, and then a number of weeks ago it appeared to disconnect.
