BitcoinUtopia has begun charging 100% fees from all BU miners for personal profit! The BU admin's personal finance situation has been in disarray for a while now. http://www.bitcoinutopia.net/bitcoinutopia/forum_thread.php?id=924&postid=11067 For what purpose does this serve when BU has been funded for a full year? http://www.bitcoinutopia.com/2015/10/bitcoin-utopia/ The personal profit campaign results in a 404 page on the bitcoinutopia server page: http://www.bitcoinutopia.com/2016/04/bitcoin-utopia-part-4/ The correct campaign url is: http://www.bitcoinutopia.com/2016/05/bitcoin-utopia-part-4/ Note that in the campaign further down the page, the fee is listed as 0% for BU. I'm proposing to remove BitcoinUtopia from Gridcoin's whitelist: https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/29841-discussion-boinc-whitelist-monitoring/?p=214803 Please remove your Bitcoin miners for the time being. |

Quite the learning experience that thread, so turns out the fee structure of Bitcoin Utopia has changed. New campaigns will have 0% fees, and there's one campaign with 100% fees dedicated to funding the Bitcoin Utopia webite (and for profit on top of expenses). The campaign to fund BU is enabled by default but can be manually de-activated, so no need to panic. |

Right. In the past the project took a % cut of each campaign, to fund their overhead. Now they separated the overhead support, from the campaign support completely. Crunch for a campaign 100%, and/or crunch for the overhead. Completely your choice. Nothing nefarious here, and more controllable by the volunteers. If you agree, it would be nice to have the subject of this thread changed to something more accurate and less misleading. |

We could change the topic to something along the lines of "BitcoinUtopia raises default fees & disables message boards". Have a look: http://www.bitcoinutopia.net/bitcoinutopia/forum_index.php Guess he can't handle having his 'for-profit' motives questioned? There was no spam on the forum, so I don't see the point in disabling the BU message boards. |

Looks like he thinks we're going to sponsor his vacation or what not...not going to happen... If he can't find a job, that's not our problem. I won't finance a lazy guy nor his so called "company". If he can't find a job, it's his problem. I'm thinking about starting a new project that 100% "fee-free"... no need to finace a lazy brat... |

BitcoinUtopia has begun charging 100% fees from all BU miners for personal profit! YOU have caused NOTHING but problems at Bitcoin Utopia and yet YOU have zero credits there!!! What gives you the RIGHT to come in and demand fricking changes to a system y9u ADMITTEDLY know NOTHING about!!! You did NOT come the Bitcoin Utopia asking 'questions' you came in THREATENING to 'whitelist' it at GridCoin which is where YOU are from!! YOU do have and ulterior motive here, YOU 'CM' or 'GC' or whatever the heck your 'real' name is have asked questions, 99% of which have been answered, some even by the Admin in charge and yet you STILL are not satisfied!!! YOU have even caused changes to be made in the Forums, prior to YOUR postings ANYONE could post there, now NO ONE CAN POST in ANY forum, until some controls are put in to stop people like you from taking over ALL the forums!!! I would say that if you don't like the way Bitcoin Utopia is running Campaign #7 then DON'T RUN IT, but you don't crunch there AT ALL!!! Bitcoin Utopia ALSO told you to go ahead and 'whitelist' it at GridCoin, obviously that FAILED miserably and now you have come HERE spewing your filth and hate!! When I click on your name I see you have ZERO credits in ANY Boinc Project, if you don't like the way things are being here at Boinc GO AWAY!!! |

BitcoinUtopia has begun charging 100% fees from all BU miners for personal profit! I caused no problems at BU - I asked questions regarding the admin's 'for-profit' motives since the Gridcoin system rewards its users based on contributions to individual projects & the category of 'commercial/for-profit projects' has previously been argued potentially not appropriate to have a whitelist status. The forums were indeed deleted, but I am not to blame: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.distributed.boinc.user/5523 (Note: I am not 'Nicolás'). You should note that this thread's original post's timestamp is the same time as my original post on the BU campaign 7 part 4 thread Several users did indeed verbally express they don't care about the project's whitelist status, and Henri acknowledged my intention to vote on the whitelist status in my original post. I didn't create the poll due to the situation being cleared up, but BU regressing by deleting/disabling their message boards may bring it back on the table. Fair enough, I totally steamrolled through the campaign 7 part 4 thread misinformed, the news/announcement for the campaign does at a first glance come across as arrogant like "This campaign is for profit, deal with it." especially since it's opt-out not opt-in.
Had I been absolutely intolerable on BU's forums, Henri (or any admin/mod) could have banned/deleted my account, deleted my posts, enabled a minimum RAC to post or if spam advert posts were an issue a captcha could have been created. Henri did not ask the boinc_project mailing list how to do this though, he instead chose to delete/disable the message boards overall for an undisclosed reason. I demanded no changes from BU (aside from fixing broken hyperlinks on the website), I have indeed created a '4th gen credit' thread on this message board which has become quite an active thread; 5+ years of not discussing the state of the credit system leads to a worthwhile discussion, but that thread is not a 'demand' rather a healthy community discussion. Who cares who I am, or what my RAC is? There are no rules requiring myself to publicly disclose my real identity nor link my BOINC computation to my forum accounts. I'll not be chased away from a forum just because I rustled the jimmies of a few users from an evidently unstable project, if anything it motivates me to return here. Edit: The message boards are back up.
