I'm running Boinc version 7.6.22 on Windows and Version 7.2.42 on Linux. I can't abort or suspend a task remotely.

Could you please give some more information, like:
1. Is it on the same network or is it on the internet?
2. Are you using one or more BOINC Manager?
3. Which of the two can you not control remotely?
4. Have you checked permissions?

I'm on a LAN.

I'm accessing the Linux Mint computer from a Windows 7 PC. It's the tasks on the Linux I can't suspend or abort remotely. Project functions work, just not individual tasks.

All files in the boinc-client folder have full perms set.

You may want to give BoincTasks a look:

I can easily work around this, but I thought I should give a heads up on an issue. I have BoincTasks, Boincview, and UVNC installed.

And I can cancel a task using BoincTasks, so I'm thinking it is a Boinc Manager issue.

Do you use Manager or boinccmd for remote control?
Is it all tasks or just some tasks?
Can you get properties of a task?
Does the remote BOINC have password set?

I think i can replicate this on Ubuntu 14.04 + boinc 7.6.22 remote host is running *cough* 6.10.17

Using Manager (in this case) but can use boinccmd.

No password set.

Using manager i see the task display not reporting correctly on remote hosts, the display seems to show "blank application names" for some or all tasks at some point.

Task Properties show a missing application name.

boincmd is able to to suspend and resume a task.
boinccmd --host <name> --task <url> <taskname> resume etc

Was working ok on 7.2.42 iirc.

I'll do some testing tomorrow, grab a screenshot etc.

OK the only combination i have is 7.6.22 (32 and 64 bit) remote managing my host "muon" running 6.10.27. I did not notice this behaviour at before the 7.6.22 upgrade.

First a screenshot showing the view on both 7.6.22 managers
here

Note missing app name.

Buttons don't seem responsive, and task list are slow to display.

boinccmd behaves strangely - running remotely to suspend a single task on muon

boinccmd --host muon --task http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ h1_0022.30_O1C01Cl1In1__O1AS20-100T_22.4Hz_120_1 suspend

Showed it suspending a number of tasks.

Edit: it is possible that manager may have "suspended" these as i was clicking on several tasks trying to resume / suspend.

attempts at resuming remotely did not change status with boinccmd or manager (manager does not display "Suspended")

managing 7.6.22 host remotely from muon or another 7.6.22 works normally.

Looks like a can repro with 7.7 Manager built from git-f707a7e9. No repro on 7.7-git-787225d5 or unknown 7.7 built on Nov 21. Remote is 7.0.27.

I saw this on localhost too. localhost is unknown 7.7 built on Nov 21.

edit: Linux all.

Hi,

Coming here to report same problem.
Boinc manager 7.6.22 x64 on a win7 64.
Tried on 2 Linux Debian 8 clients, debian stable repositories clients.

No way to suspend, cancel a work on every clients. If I click "properties" on the failed cancelled task, there's "ready to start"...

1 remote client with a password + IP based
1 LAN client without password ++ IP based

It's working nice with Boinc manager on dual boot, on Debian 8 stable... Windows only problem, for me...
