In the past it has been asked by the developers that people from within BOINC and outside the BOINC community make new logos and icons, so now and here is your chance.

Make your own BOINC logo. Post any result you have on here. Best use external sites as Photobucket, or your own website as the image's link.

There is no closing date on this one. BOINC's graphical part can always be improved. So if you want to have a go at it, show it.

If you want to create a complete graphical identity for BOINC, BOINC logo, Site graphics and BOINC icons, you can do so. Best email the results of that directly to David Anderson at davea at ssl dot berkeley dot edu.

Add some variation, I think. BOINC is changing, so why not the logo and icons?

i can also make the [white] backgroud transparent, so it fits on every background.

I've made one...

Its not brilliant...

The numbers in the background are binary code for "BOINC". Each grouping is one letter, top to bottom is "Boinc". I was trying to link it with a computer.. not very succesfully. If someone wants my source files, I've uploaded them.

Image was made in GIMP, so prefered file is:
XCF

Although I have exported it into photoshop (dont know how well the export works:
PSD

Feel free to edit, nab ideas from, use, mutilate whatever. I don't mind! Credit would not be required. (Its rubbish anyway!)

EDIT: Correct XCF -> PSC

It would probably be safer to take an earth image from a ClimatePrediction model. Oxford Uni allows 'legitimate use' of the model images, which I presume means not for sale. We can check this with the project admins in Oxford, and I imagine they might be quite pleased.

You'd have to see whether any of the images are suitable.

If I were you, I'd open up the letter C a bit if possible so that people don't read it as another O. The word BOINC presents many people with a big reading/spelling challenge already and we wouldn't like to exacerbate this problem!

Later....I've been looking at Mike's screenshot in this thread, and although the globe can be viewed in other modes eg mostly green and blue and showing any side of the Earth, I don't think it's really the sort of effect you wanted. Even if you edit it a lot.
