I'm using BOINC 5.5.10 and the BOINC Manager displays two WUs active at the same time. But only one gets time, so it must be a bug in this version.

This bug has already been reported by several people on the boinc-alpha list. It's probably a good idea to subscribe to that list if you wish to test early versions of BOINC.
