Hey guys,

I'm 17 years old and I'm a secondary grammar school student in Czech Republic (Europe). I accidentally found BOINC project and started using it. Then I realised how much compute power is all around me in all those companies in my near city and I decided to propagate this project - by visiting companies with my friend one by one to convince them to install this program too.

But, we need convince them somehow. Surely we will made poster or presentation, to describe them the program in 10 minutes. But we have to offer them something, because all the company will recieve, is higher electricity bill. So I got an idea, if BOINC could release some certificate, that I could print as stickers for example, nad stick them to the company doors - if they accept BOINC program.

I don't know how in America, but here many companies do good things for charity and like to mark themselves as a reward. Do you think you could make it, BOINC? Or do you have a better idea? Let me know, what do you think, please.

Sorry for my bad english,
sincerely,
TheSisa

TheSisa, welcome to BOINC and her forums. I agree that it would be nice to have better advertising agents to help with this task.

In regards to "stickers", you may consider the certificates that you can print out at most (not all) of the BOINC related projects. For example, if you log into SETI you can click on the Certificate link on the home page http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/cert_print.php which will let you print out a certificate indicating your current contribution to that specific project.

Another idea, is that these companies could also add a "signature" to their website similar to how some of us have in these forums that indicate their achievements by utilizing a stats site. An example would be like mine over at BOINCStats that looks like this:

Thank you much for reply, support and the ideas. I'll work on it, put it on a paper and then present it to our school principal and ask for a support too. I'll let you know then.

Regards,

Not yet, now it's just an idea. If I'm successful, I'll make a website later. I'll let you know here.

By the way, where can I make those dynamic stats images?

The stats images are made at BOINCStats.com. The badges are hosted at another website. You can also get stats images from free-dc.org.

BOINCStats and Free-DC are probably the two most common and most used stats sites out there.

Here is an example of one from Free-DC
