Not exactly a project down, but CPDN ave changed the structure of their website, and "broken" the login script. The forum are accessible, but the status of posts doesn't work, and since you can't login everything comes up "read", further you can't see any of ones stats. edit - and the address of the upload page has changed....... (I can't comment about the download page as I've not needed a download) |

Ouch. That's a mess. The (biggest) problem seems to be that all the BOINC working pages have been moved from cpdn.org/whatever_page_you _wanted to main.cpdn.org/original_page_name - but the links from BOINC manager don't know that yet. And neither does the security certificate for the site. Not what I would have recommended for a Friday afternoon changeover... Edit - uploads for the tasks I'm working on at the moment seem to be getting through - so the scientific data should be reaching the scientists OK. But the administrative 'trickle' that CPDN uses isn't reaching the scheduler - so computers won't be able to report that a task has completed, or (presumably) ask for a replacement task. |

Not what I would have recommended for a Friday afternoon changeover... I'm not sure how to categorise doing a reshuffle of a website before a weekend without telling users "We're going to be down for a month to cure the mess we're about to create". Such acts rarely go to plan, and since everyone wants to get to the pub or home early they are probably not going to be in a state to do anything about it until sometime late on Monday (morning). I may just about survive the weekend on the work in hand has about 2.5 days to run...... |

Not what I would have recommended for a Friday afternoon changeover...Not unusual for Andy to respond to emails over the weekend but my suspicion is that someone else has decided to press the big red button without telling him. I have sent an email on the moderators' list. I knew the change from climateprediction.net addresses to all cpdn.org ones was coming but had no idea when. |

Glenn is going to raise it at the meeting on Monday. Looks like not a lot changing till then. |

I would urge them not to to make any snap decisions which might make the situation even worse They will have to make a single key decision early on: roll back to the status quo ante, or persevere with the new changes and deal with the individual problems as they're identified. They need to take a good, hard (and well informed) look at the pros and cons of each option, and decide accordingly. The one critical action they must take now is to hang on to the domain name for the "master" file server, and be prepared to re-attach a simple server to handle that vital role. Otherwise, CPDN and BOINC will part company as the current project. |

My zips are still going through but as you say the trickle ups for credit are not. The lack of warning is my biggest gripe. |

Whenever I try to select the climateprediction.net project in BOINC, it says "The URL doesn't belong to a BOINC based project, please check the URL and try again". How can I fix this? |

The project suffered an update that didn't go as well as hoped. This has resulted in a lot of problems with connecting to it, so well outside our control. Just sit tight, wait a couple of days and it should possible to connect. |

Actually, the web connection problems were largely resolved around lunchtime yesterday (UK time). There may still be some residual problems: if you are still affected, please post with a little more detail in the dedicated CPDN change of web address thread below. |

ODLK1 project not working, URL error, but ODLK is working. Also, the following projects currently aren't working: Denis@home GPUGrid.net Ithena RNA World Universe@home |

Ok, thanks for that, GPUGrid.net is working fine now for me. However, the project has to download around 4.5 gigabytes of data, which takes forever due to a download speed limit of 2 megabytes/16 megabit per second, despite my fiber optic 1000/1000 mbit connection. How to improve this speed/remove this limit in BOINC? |

How to improve this speed/remove this limit in BOINC? The download or upload problem is not with the BOINC software but each project server bandwidth |

Ok, thanks, then I'll write on the forums of each individual project with this issue instead. |

It would be nice if there were a table where you could look up the connection speeds of individual projects not that it would make much difference to my bored band. The only project I have ever had a connection to slower than my own broadband is WCG with ARP tasks after they moved. |

How to improve this speed/remove this limit in BOINC?Just to give you a few real-life figures for comparison, my last GPUGrid download, for an ATMML task, was: Mon 23 Sep 2024 12:29:30 BST | GPUGRID | Started download of MCL1_A62_A11_r0_2-QUICO_ATM_AF_04_Benchmark_MCL1-10-input Mon 23 Sep 2024 12:29:38 BST | GPUGRID | Finished download of MCL1_A62_A11_r0_2-QUICO_ATM_AF_04_Benchmark_MCL1-10-input (12485863 bytes) Mon 23 Sep 2024 12:29:30 BST | GPUGRID | Started download of MCL1_A62_A11_r0_2-QUICO_ATM_AF_04_Benchmark_MCL1-10-MCL1_A62_A11_r0_2-QUICO_ATM_AF_04_Benchmark_MCL1-9-20-RND7023_1 Mon 23 Sep 2024 12:29:47 BST | GPUGRID | Finished download of MCL1_A62_A11_r0_2-QUICO_ATM_AF_04_Benchmark_MCL1-10-MCL1_A62_A11_r0_2-QUICO_ATM_AF_04_Benchmark_MCL1-9-20-RND7023_1 (29585119 bytes) I make that 8 seconds for the smaller (12.5 MB) file, and 17 seconds for the larger (29.6 MB) file. That's all it needs once it gets into it's stride - the 4.5 GB figure is a once-off download of programs, source code, and heaven knows what else. It's kept for re-use, and won't be needed again, unless you switch to a different task type. My home internet connection is close to 76 Mbps download, 11.1 Mbps upload on a 'fibre to the cabinet' link You should have plenty of headroom. But remember that the speed you have to worry about is the slowest link between your desk and the project server in (I think) Barcelona, Spain. Anything faster elsewhere won't affect it. There's no point in bashing down the Interstate at an insane speed, if at some point you have to deviate onto a cart-track. |

Asteroids@home is out of WU's, again. I've tried updating and updating countless times, nothing happens. Also, I can now add climateprediction.net again, without getting the URL error I got before, but there are no jobs available. Is the current transition of the project done, or is something else the issue? And I tried doing an einstein@home task, but it stopped at 49,500% and wouldn't continue beyond that. I can't post this on the Einstein@home message boards, cause I've got no credit, which I can't get cause I can't complete this first task. |
