At Einstein...You should be able to create & post to the Forums › Problems and Bug Reports without credit. |

And I tried doing an einstein@home task, but it stopped at 49,500% You shouldn't have done that. What you saw with progress stopped at 49.5% is NORMAL. The task will stop at 99.5% also. You should just let the computation finish in the time required. Please read the thread detailing the application design on the Einstein forums with respect the O3AS work. The two progress stoppages are the point where computation shifts from the gpu onto the cpu for a spell before returning to the gpu to finish up with one final computation back on the cpu at the 99.5 % completion point. |

No, it says I must earn 1 more credit to post... Also, I tried the project LHC@Home, which I can see on the server status page has over 5000 tasks ready to send, but I'm not getting any, why? |

Ok, thanks for the reply, but then that's fault in the BOINC client/software, not giving information on why the task has stopped, cause it's switching between CPU and GPU, or not doing this faster. I know the BOINC client has probably been updated many times since it was launched in 2002, but fundamentaly, like Windows, it's still very old, and could really benefit from some big upgrades, both in user experience, efficiency, and utilization of modern hardware and networking. |

This sort of announcement is under the control of the project - BOINC just relays on such messages as it receives from the application that was developed by them. |

This is not the topic for such discussion, you must go into each project forum, or if you can't (e.g. credit limitation) in the upper Projects section of this forum , but not in this topic. Each project has its own constraints, temporary or permanent issues, etc. |

In reply to kasdashdfjsah's message of 30 Sep 2024: I have now completed 3 Einstein@home tasks, but not recieved credit for any of them, why?Einstein, in common with many BOINC projects, requires each result to be 'validated' by checking your work against a comparison task reported by another user. If the two match, all's good, and you (both) will be awarded credit. If, on the other hand, the results don't match, the task will be sent out to another machine, to try and work out which of the first two is wrong. Successful (and matching) answers will be rewarded: answer deemed to be wrong won't. That's an attempt to weed out bad science which might have been returned by a failing or badly set-up home computer, or in the extreme the results of deliberate fraud. That's rare, but it has happened. You can see the results you have returned, the stage they've reached in the validation process, and how long your 'wingmates' usually take to return their assigned tasks, on the project's website. It's worthwhile to explore the websites of all the projects you're working for - there's a lot of useful information buried in them. |

Ok, thanks for the reply. In the meantime though, I've tried the project Ramanujan machine, which I can't get to work. It just keeps saying "communicating with project, please wait" with the green dot jumping between the 2 computers animation, but nothing else happens, same with SiDock@Home. |

Just tried Ramanujan machine. Added successfully at first attempt. Nothing downloaded on Linux but Windows installation in VB downloaded a task and ran it to completion. Not sure if there is a problem with Linux tasks or not. Message is just, "No tasks sent" rather than no tasks available. Edit:A peruse of their own fora tells me others are not getting Linux tasks either and a message has been sent to the scientists. |

Ramanujan machine works fine now, but LHC@Home doesn't. They say on their website downtime October 1, which was yesterday, but the server status page say 5000+ tasks ready to send, so I guess this issue has been resolved, though I just can't seem to get any tasks downloaded for some reason? |

I just can't seem to get any tasks downloaded for some reason? Do you have virtual box installed? You really need to be looking at the individual project forums for answers on this. |

I do have virtualbox installed. And I'm writing about all these projects not working here on these BOINC forums, because I can't post this on the project's forums, due to me not having any credit, which I can't get cause I can't get any jobs. If I could write this on the other forums, I would of course, but I can't without credit. |

Since the troubleshooting is off topic for this thread... Let's move the future troubleshooting discussion to: Message boards : Questions and problems: Troubleshooting for user "kasdashdfjsah". |
