Strangely, it's not on the list here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php and half of my computers list it as a project I can attach to, and the other half don't. Is there a problem with Boinc getting updated project lists? There's a curious, undocumented, but deliberate design choice in BOINC. If you set the configuration flag 'dont_contact_ref_site' - if, for example, you've got better ways of diagnosing the health of your internet connection - then the periodic update of all_projects_list is also supressed. https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/issues/2352 |

LHC tasks are going to be in short supply (or non-existent) for a bit, they are doing some updates: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=5865 https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=5865&postid=46903 CMS wants to upgrade WMAgent to bring in a new version of CouchDB. I've just submitted a new workflow which should start draining around midnight Sunday (European). Please be ready to set NoNewTasks late Sunday to avoid any problems. Hopefully we'll be up again by Monday night. |

This affects only CMS. Theory and ATLAS are available as usual. https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/server_status.php |

Why do projects often ask us to set no new tasks? Surely they can just turn off the server tap?Because if you don't turn off work fetch, your client will keep pestering their server with "Is there any more yet?" requests. Unlike us, they probably have to pay for their own bandwidth. It's easier, simpler, and more polite if we just shut up for the duration. |

And some volunteers write scripts that request work every few seconds, so that they're first in line when work does become available. |

Update: A few CMS tasks are now escaping into the wild. It will probably take things a bit of time to get back to normal (whatever that may be). |

Project Asteroids@home Wow! I missed that one. The certificate unexpired after all. It was already on the BOINC STATS “Retired Projects” list. From experience I assume the 2 weeks will be somewhat longer. GREAT NEWS anyway _____ edit: oh no: on https://asteroidsathome.net MOZILLA complains: "asteroidsathome.net uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed. Error code: MOZILLA_PKIX_ERROR_SELF_SIGNED_CERT " "less than a pixel" |

Einstein@Home is down due to a (Uni Hanover) campus-wide power outage. The machines keep running on UPS, but the UPS that powers the network failed. It is unclear when power and operation can be restored, but it should be a matter of hours rather than days. |
