I just installed BOINC version 7.4.42 on a fresh, new installation of Yosemite 10.10.2 on a Late 2013 iMac.

When booting in Verbose Mode, I get this error message at the end of the boot process, which repeats itself many times:

BUG in process suhelperd [202]: over-released legacy external boot assertions (1 total, 1 external, 0 legacy external).

Traces of the error message stay on the screen even after the boot process completes and I log in with the admin user account.

If I completely uninstall BOINC, this error message goes away and the boot process proceeds normally.

Looking for a stable BOINC release for Yosemite. BOINC 7.2.42 installed hangs a Yosemite boot.

Any other options?

I had an answer back from the developer. He told me that this is something that Yosemite does, not BOINC. When you search for the error in a search engine -- and by the way, it's over-released legacy external boost assertions -- there are hundreds of people who have this problem.

Nowhere a definitive answer as how to solve this. It does appear to be a problem with OS X 10.10 only so far though.

The developer continues to say As long as the Mac and BOINC are running normally, I would say ignore it. But if it bothers you much, you could try removing the login startup item for BOINCManager (under System Preferences Users & Groups) and launch BOINCManager manually after login.

If you still gets the message after that, then we don't see any way that BOINC could be involved during the boot process.

message, and in both cases my Mac booted up correctly. With BOINC installed, it started up and ran as expected (though I find Yosemite extremely slow.)

In addition to removing the Login item, the only other thing I can think of is that you may have a corrupted download of BOINC, so you may want to download it again.

Other than that, i don't know what to suggest. You are the only person who has reported this problem to us.

It is possible we are on different builds. I am setting things up the way I would in win 7. I will try to attach a screen shot. I assigned a project.
The laptop I put it on could possibly be a little twitchy. I haven't ruled that out.

It is a visual fortran runtime error. I have not yet begun to play with it much.
hadcm3s_um_....... is having a lot of errors.

There are many BOINC projects. You should be more specific.

Anyway, I think I found a little info about the problem you are having. It looks to be a problem specific to the climateprediction.net project. There is an ongoing thread about it here, which you should probably participate in. They offer a workaround suggestion to disable that application type in your web prefs.

So far as I know, this is not a BOINC issue. Instead, it's an application issue for that project to sort out. Also, I'm attached to that project (and 30 others), and haven't had the issue yet, but I have had several types of errors with that project; it is one of the more problematic projects, in my opinion.
